🌍 SUCOMINNO in Action: Mid-Term Activities Across Europe
Between January and April 2025, the partners of the SUCOMINNO – Sustainable Communities and Eco-Innovation project proved that sustainability isn't just a concept discussed in training rooms — it's a movement that takes shape locally, creatively, and powerfully across Europe. Following the first Project Development Activity (PDA) in Poland, each partner activated their community, youth networks, and local institutions to disseminate results, raise awareness, and ignite real-world eco-action before the upcoming PDA2.
🇨🇾 Cyprus: From Local Traditions to International Impact
ACPELIA led the way with a mix of cultural engagement and international outreach. During its annual Vasilopita event in January, the SUCOMINNO project was presented to the local community, integrating sustainability into a beloved tradition. In March, during the transnational "Media Mind" PDA, a dedicated SUCOMINNO dissemination session reached 33 international participants, sharing key lessons and ideas from PDA1. The Cypriot team also produced the official SUCOMINNO video, showcasing the project's essence in a compelling and accessible format.

🇬🇷 Greece: Clean Shores & Circular Thinking
The Municipality of Korydallos and NGO In-Planet mobilized their networks for hands-on action. In Piraeus, volunteers cleaned the city's beaches, collecting and sorting waste as part of a broader reflection on marine pollution. In parallel, a clothes recycling campaign invited youth and families to contribute garments for reuse, turning textile waste into an educational opportunity about fast fashion and the circular economy.

🇵🇹 Portugal: Running for the Planet
In Portugal, Associação Nó Górdio introduced the community to plogging — the joyful combination of jogging and trash collection — promoting environmental consciousness and healthy lifestyles. Meanwhile, the Municipality of Valongo organized a dual event near Casa da Juventude: a local dissemination session about SUCOMINNO and an urban cleanup, collecting cigarette butts while sparking conversations about civic responsibility and waste culture.

🇱🇹 Lithuania: Empowering Young Innovators
Lithuania's partners took an inspiring approach to youth entrepreneurship and eco-awareness. The Youth Leisure Centre (JLC) launched a competition to revamp its terrace using sustainable business ideas. Six youth teams presented concepts through engaging pitches and videos, developing real entrepreneurial skills along the way. At the policy level, the Municipality of Ukmergė presented SUCOMINNO to local district leaders and celebrated Earth Day with a birdhouse-making activity, blending environmental education with biodiversity support.

🇵🇱 Poland: Circular Economy in Focus
In Poland, both Stowarzyszenie "OPEN SOUL" and the Municipality of Starachowice focused on education and behavior change through the lens of circular economy. The Municipality hosted a hands-on workshop for the Youth City Council, guiding participants through a three-phase journey: exploring local zero-waste practices, researching community-based solutions, and brainstorming daily-life applications of circular principles. This participatory model deepened civic engagement and ecological understanding. Meanwhile, OPEN SOUL conducted a school workshop emphasizing waste reduction through reuse and digital platforms like Too Good To Go. A concluding quiz helped anchor learning, and participants reflected on their own eco-habits and paths toward more sustainable living. Both Polish activities highlighted the importance of empowering young people with practical tools to rethink consumption and act locally.

🔄 A Living Network of Change
These diverse mid-term actions reflect SUCOMINNO's heart: community-rooted, youth-driven, and solution-focused. Whether it's cleaning a beach, building a birdhouse, reimagining public space, or simply sharing knowledge, each action is a testament to what's possible when values of sustainability meet creativity and collaboration.
And this is just the beginning. With PDA2 just around the corner, these local sparks are about to meet again — to connect, inspire, and amplify their impact at the European level.
